George Pataki (R) on Tuesday announced that more than $52.8 million in grants will be awarded to advance health IT efforts on a regional level, Government Technology reports.
The grants are part of the state's Healthcare Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers, or HEAL NY, and will be awarded to health care facilities that work with each other to develop IT for sharing clinical information among providers. The grants, which will range from a minimum of $100,000 to a maximum of $5 million, could cover up to 40% of the cost of a health IT project, Government Technology reports.
