A group of health care organization leaders has requested that the Bush administration fully fund Medicare quality improvement organizations, Modern Physician reports. The work of QIOs next year is expected to include support for the Doctors Office Quality-Information Technology, a project sponsored by CMS and the American Academy of Family Physicians, which aims to improve care quality for Medicare beneficiaries by helping physicians in small and mid-sized group practices implement electronic medical records and other clinical IT systems (Conn, Modern Physician, 3/1).
