About the Campaign - Challenge to Eliminate Cervical Cancer: "Beginning in Fall 2003, Women In Government initiated plans to launch a national campaign to eliminate cervical cancer. The Campaign was named the Challenge to Eliminate Cervical Cancer and was officially launched in January 2004. The Campaign, calling for the elimination of cervical cancer over the next ten years, has been chosen as a top priority for Women In Government. This initiative was derived from the successful introduction of the topic to state legislators at our 9th Annual State Directors’ Conference in January 2003 as well as the first HPV & Cervical Cancer Task Force Meeting in March 2003."
