Helath Information Technology Leadership Panel
Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt issued a report titled "Health Information Technology Leadership Panel: Final Report." The report identifies three key imperatives for health information technology (HIT):
Widespread adoption of interoperable HIT should be a top priority for the US healthcare system.
The federal government should use its leverage as the nation's largest healthcare payer and provider to drive adoption of HIT.
Private sector purchasers and healthcare organizations can and should collaborate with the federal government to drive adoption of HIT.
