This report, prepared with the generous

intended to illustrate the promise of
healthcare IT, and to engage a broader set
of healthcare stakeholders in the
discussions of how best to use it to
improve the quality, safety and efficiency
of healthcare. It is our intention in this
report to strip away much of the technical
and medical jargon that surrounds
healthcare information technology, so that
diverse stakeholders – most importantly
healthcare consumers – may better
understand the value of this investment
and become partners in ensuring that
healthcare IT is a key strategy in
healthcare reform.
